This code list is used in association with the Boundary Type attribute which is present within all feature types in the OS NGD Administrative and Statistical Units Theme. The code list describes the type of boundary (for example, ward, upper tier local authority, etc.).

Label	Definition
Administrative Unit	An area, defined by legislation, for the purposes of administration.
Electoral Unit	An area, defined by legislation, for the purposes of elections.
Historic	An area, defined by legislation, that was formerly defined by legislation for the purposes of administration but is no longer current.
Statistical Unit	An area against which government statistics are reported.
Supplementary	A group of mainly static datasets that describe different boundaries.
