# boundarytypevalue

This code list is used in association with the Boundary Type attribute which is present within all feature types in the OS Boundaries Collection. The code list describes the type of boundary (for example, ward, upper tier local authority, etc.).

| Label               | Definition                                                                                                                             |
| ------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Administrative Unit | An area, defined by legislation, for the purposes of administration.                                                                   |
| Electoral Unit      | An area, defined by legislation, for the purposes of elections.                                                                        |
| Historic            | An area, defined by legislation, that was formerly defined by legislation for the purposes of administration but is no longer current. |
| Statistical Unit    | An area against which government statistics are reported.                                                                              |
| Supplementary       | A group of mainly static datasets that describe different boundaries.                                                                  |
