This code list is used in association with the Description attribute which is present within the Ward Feature Type. The code list describes the type of ward (for example, District Ward, Scottish Unitary Authority Ward, etc.).

| Community Ward                  | An electoral sub-division of a Community Council within Wales.                                                                                                                  |
| District Ward                   | An electoral sub-division of a Lower Tier Local Authority District or Borough Authority within England.                                                                         |
| English Unitary Authority Ward  | The boundary of an electoral sub-division of an Upper Tier English Unitary Authority that was not created by the transformation of a County Authority into a Unitary Authority. |
| London Borough Ward             | The boundary of an electoral sub-division of a London Borough Authority.                                                                                                        |
| Metropolitan District Ward      | The boundary of an electoral sub-division of an Upper Tier Metropolitan Borough or District Authority.                                                                          |
| Scottish Unitary Authority Ward | The boundary of an electoral sub-division of an Upper Tier Local Authority in Scotland.                                                                                         |
| Undivided Community             | The boundary of a Community Council in Wales that is not further sub-divided for electoral purposes.                                                                            |
