Known limitations
Information about the known limitations for bus lane data.
There are some known limitations for bus lane data:
Completeness: Bus Lane features have been captured from aerial imagery and therefore there are some limitations to completeness. Where features are not visible from aerial imagery (for example, where they are obscured by tree cover or are not visible due to urban shading), these will not be included. You can report any bus lane omissions on the OS Data Hub Error Reporting Tool for OS to investigate.
Coverage: There will be partial data coverage across Great Britain for the Bus Lane Feature Type between September 2025 and late March 2026, with an iterative increase in coverage released monthly. Full data coverage for Great Britain for this feature type will be achieved by late March 2026. Please see the OS NGD Improvements page for further information on available bus lane data and an interactive map showing current bus lane coverage.
Linking to the Road and Path Network: The accuracy of the linking between Bus Lane features and the Road Network is dependent on the performance of an algorithm. In areas of complex network geometry (for example, at junctions) there are limitations to the accuracy of the linking algorithm.
