Cycle Lane Feature Type
Information about the Cycle Lane Feature Type, including a description, use cases for the data, and key attribution.
The Cycle Lane Feature Type can be found in the OS NGD Transport Network Collection of the OS NGD Transport Theme. It provides line geometry depicting the approximate centreline of cycle lanes. This tells you where cycle lane infrastructure is located and gives you key information about Cycle Lane features.
Use cases
You can use the Cycle Lane Feature Type to:
Understand where cycle lane infrastructure is located
Visualise the extent and distribution of cycle lanes
Gain key information about Cycle Lane features to support asset management of cycle infrastructure
Key attribution
Key attribution for the Cycle Lane Feature Type includes:
Description: Provides a description of the type of cycle lane and its segregation from the carriageway or pathway (for example, 'Fully Segregated Cycle Track' or 'Segregated Shared Use Cycle Track'). The definitions in the Cycle Lane Description Value Code List have been aligned to government guidance on cycle infrastructure design where possible.
Modal Width: Provides an indication of the most representative width of the majority of the cycle lane.
Minimum Width: Provides an indication of the narrowest point along the cycle lane.
