This code list is used in association with the Description attribute which is present within the Path Link and Road Link Feature Types. The code list describes the path / road based on its nature or use.

Canal Path
A route primarily for pedestrian use alongside a canal.
Collapsed Dual Carriageway
The geometry of the dual carriageway has been collapsed where they are running parallel and is less than a defined distance apart, resulting in a single line representing both carriageways of a dual carriageway.
Dual Carriageway
A route along one side of a road consisting of two separate carriageways with separate flow directions where the carriageways are partitioned by physical features, such as a barrier and / or verge.
Enclosed Traffic Area
A route into or through a publicly accessible vehicle park or a similar area where the limits of the carriageway are not defined.
Footbridge
A route for pedestrians, and possibly cyclists, across a structure over a river, railway, road, or similar.
Guided Busway
A route along a specially constructed or modified road for passenger road vehicles that have been built or adapted to be steered by external means.
Layby
An area adjacent to the main carriageway where vehicles can stop on an ad hoc basis usually for a short time.
Path
A route primarily for pedestrian use.
Path With Ford
A route primarily for pedestrian use that passes through a watercourse.
Path With Level Crossing
A route primarily for pedestrian use that crosses a railway, normally gated, occasionally accessed by a stile.
Path With Steps
A route primarily for pedestrian use that includes steps.
Roundabout
A route part of a fully connected circle that traffic must circumnavigate in a clockwise direction.
Service Road
A route along a road running parallel to, and connecting with, a more important road that is designed to enable easier access to and from the main road to connecting roads and adjacent properties whilst reducing the impact on the traffic flow of the more important road.
Shared Use Carriageway
A route through an area with little or no physical separation between the areas used by vehicles and those used by pedestrians.
Single Carriageway
A route along a road consisting of one carriageway with traffic in one or both directions. There may be more than one lane in any particular direction.
Slip Road
A route along a road designed to either ease access onto or away from another road or to improve traffic flow at a junction.
Subway
A route for pedestrians, and possibly cyclists, through a structure under or over a river, railway, road, or similar.
Track
A route along an unmade way created by the passage of vehicles.
Traffic Island Link
A route around a physical feature within the carriageway that is over 8 m².
Traffic Island Link At Junction
A route around a physical feature within the carriageway that is over 8 m² at or close to a road junction.
