This page lists changes made to OS NGD documentation. Changes will be made for a variety of reasons, including reflecting any alterations made to the OS NGD data itself as we enhance and improve the offering, plus simple improvements to the documentation to aid understanding.

9.1	01/09/2026	New pages added ahead of the October 2026 OS NGD data enhancements release: Three new address related component pages added: Multiple Residence, Delivery Point Alias and Other Alias. Existing pages amended ahead of the October 2026 OS NGD data enhancements release: Major data schema version increment from 1.0 to 2.0 for two existing feature types: Royal Mail Address (OS GB Address Collection) and Royal Mail Address (OS Islands Address Collection). This is due to new attributes and three new related components being added to these feature types, plus some filters being altered on existing attributes – please see the data schema version table on the feature type pages for full details of changes. (These feature types also had a minor data schema version increment from 1.0 to 1.1 to make the Description attribute filterable in OS Select+Build.) Minor updates made to the definitions of the following existing code lists to account for new attributes in the Royal Mail Address Feature Type using the code lists: Country Value and Postcode Type Value. Updates made to the following pages: OS NGD Fundamentals – Unique identifiers (new Unique Multiple Residence Reference Number identifier added), OS NGD Address Theme (extensive changes to the unique identifiers and data structure sections), and Address Related Components (extensive updates with the addition of three new Royal Mail related components, plus a page name change from Related Components to Address Related Components). Regional Authority Feature Type definition updated: From: With the introduction of the regional government for London (referred to as the Greater London Authority or GLA by OS NGD documentation), the proportional representation voting area for this new administration is the GLA Assembly Constituency. The existing London borough structure also has a relationship with the new GLA, and each London borough is divided for voting purposes into London borough wards. To: Regional authorities, also known as strategic or combined authorities, are regional bodies formed by local authorities to manage devolved powers (for example, coordinating regional transport, economic growth and strategic planning policies). Major data schema version increment from 1.1 to 2.0 for one existing feature type: Regional Authority. This is due to adding five new values to the related code list (Regional Authority Description Value) and changing the geometry type for the Geometry attribute from Polygon to MultiPolygon. Major version increment from 1.0 to 2.0 for one existing code list: Regional Authority Description Value. This is due to adding five new values to the code list and updating the definition of the original value in the code list. ⚠️ Please note that the pages mentioned above have been amended on / added to this documentation site to give customers an advanced preview of the upcoming data for the October 2026 OS NGD data enhancements release. Data schema versions 1.1 and 2.0 for the Royal Mail Address Feature Types, the three new Royal Mail related components, and data schema version 2.0 for the Regional Authority Feature Type are currently not available through OS Select+Build (the bespoke download service). The information held on the new and updated pages is as accurate as possible but is subject to change before the OS NGD data enhancements release at the start of October 2026.
9.0	12/08/2026	The 'OS NGD Future Data Enhancements' page was deleted. Information about future data enhancements is now covered in a note at the top of the What's New page; that note explains that the OS Data Products Roadmap is now available to view on Aha! The roadmap outlines our focus areas for enhancements and new releases for the OS NGD and our Download products (Premium and OpenData products) over the next two years.
8.9	07/08/2026	New Transport networks in the OS NGD explainer added to the site; this explainer goes through transport networks in the OS NGD and how the data and feature types in the collections fit together. It covers the following topics: Building routable transport networks Road network Routing information Streets and asset management information Other road network information National street gazetteers, GeoPlace and Improvement Service Path network Ferry network Rail network Transport features

8.5	02/06/2026	The feature counts sections for the OS Routing And Asset Management Information (RAMI) and OS Transport Network Collections were removed from the following pages: Data ordering and currency (in the OS NGD Fundamentals) OS NGD Transport Theme (in the Data Structure section) OS RAMI Collection (in the Data Structure section) OS Transport Network Collection (in the Data Structure section) There wasn't a need to list the monthly feature counts for these two collections separately as this information is provided by Order Summary Files. Order Summary File: Feature types downloaded via OS Select+Build are supplied with an Order Summary File, a small JSON manifest that provides key metadata about the supplied file; you can use this file to validate the data to ensure the currency, record counts (feature counts), schema version, feature name and coordinate reference system (CRS) match your expected order.
8.4	13/05/2026	FAQs page updated with new FAQs added about unused order notifications.
8.3	11/05/2026	Minor data schema version increments from 1.0 to 1.1, 2.0 to 2.1 and 3.2 to 3.3 to the Land Feature Type in the OS Land Features Collection to account for the updates made to the Land Description Value Code List (now on v2.0) to indicate two deprecated values no longer in the data (Heath and Boulders Or Rock And Heath Or Rough Grassland Or Marsh).
8.2	06/05/2026	Coverage map added to the greenspace recipe guide page to show the density of green spaces across Great Britain provided by the recipe.
8.1	01/05/2026	Minor data schema version increment from 1.0 to 1.1 to the Devolved Parliament Constituency Feature Type in the OS Boundaries Collection to make the Boundary Parent Reference ID, Boundary Parent Reference Feature Type, Boundary Parent Reference Classification and Boundary Parent Reference Name 1 Text attributes nullable, in line with boundary changes in Wales.
8.0	29/04/2026	2025 announcements moved into their own tabbed area of the 'Recent announcements' sub-section on the OS NGD News page. 2025 What's New? items moved into their own '2025 OS NGD enhancements' sub-section of the What's New? page.
7.9	27/04/2026	Minor data schema version increment from 1.0 to 1.1 to the Building Access Location Feature Type in the OS Building Features Collection to reflect the update to the Access Obstruction attribute’s max length from 20 to 30. Clarified documentation to specify the handling of multiple obstruction values by adding a note under the Access Obstruction attribute. Added two sentences to the end of the description of the Access Obstruction Value Code List to specify the handling of multiple obstruction values.
