# March 2024

Points of Interest Product Amendments March 2024 Quarterly Update

This document details the data enhancements that are included within the March 2024 release of PointX data. PointX is continually striving to improve its data holdings and this document highlights the specific changes made for the March 2024 release.

## Improved data holdings

### AddressBase Core and OS MasterMap Highways Network

AddressBase® Core and OS MasterMap® Highways Network updated to the January 2024 versions. The latest local authority amendments are included in this release due to using the May 2023 version of OS Boundary-Line.

### UPRN

Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) population has decreased slightly to 49.45% and the population of the UPRN priority classes has marginally decreased to 89.26% UPRN.

Further information on UPRNs priorities can be found on the PointX website, in their user guide.

### Emergency Service Records

PointX have a focus on improving the currency of emergency service records that will be reflected in current and future releases.

### Latitude and Longitude

As mentioned in the December release note, PointX have shared their intention to include Latitude and Longitude within Points of Interest, along with the existing Ordnance Survey Grid References.

We have sample data of this that we can provide you with. If you would like to be sent the sample data, please reach out to the Location Product team at: <LPT@os.uk> where we can email you the sample data and receive your feedback.URLs

### PointX continues to use a URL reputation service to identify and remove any potentially malicious URLS from the product.URLs

PointX continues to use a URL reputation service to identify and remove any potentially malicious URLs from the product.

All new or updated URL’s have been checked and refreshed to improve currency.

### Distance Calculation

As of the March 2023 release, the methodology used to calculate the distance of a feature to the road network has been improved to use the entire road network in OS MasterMap Highways Network. This now includes Unique Street Reference Numbers (USRNs) that are not included in AddressBase Core. This enhancement provides more accurate distances for features where their distance is calculated spatially to the nearest road USRN; such features have a USRN Match Indicator of 3.

## Next release

The next release of Points of Interest is scheduled for June 2024.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.os.uk/os-downloads/~/changes/AJZwzCsyrD9hiTbOxIbO/addressing-and-location/points-of-interest/release-notes/march-2024.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
