Indicates if a basement is present in the building. Basement presence is recorded for addressable buildings. It may be recorded for some non-addressable buildings, but the majority of these will have their basement presence recorded as NULL.
Indicates if the basement contains a self-contained flat.
The locations identified by OS where vehicles, pedestrians or both can enter and / or leave a building. The current scope is only key public buildings within a subset of Land Use Sites as follows:
Hospitals
Stadiums and Sports Arenas – typically those with a capacity greater than 5 000 people.
Shopping Centres – typically those with greater than 50 retail units.
Railway Stations
Major Transport Interchanges – typically airports, international ferry terminals, vehicular ferry terminals with a Land Use Site area greater than 1 000m², and bus / coach stations with a Land Use Site area greater than 5 000m².
Conference Centres – typically those sites whose primary function is to host formal discussions / meetings and exhibitions, and with a capacity greater than 500 people.
Concert Venues – typically those with a capacity greater than 1 000 people.
The period (that is, a range of years) in which the building was constructed. Construction period is recorded for addressable buildings. It may be recorded for some non-addressable buildings, but the majority of these will have their construction period recorded as NULL.
The year in which the building was constructed. This is recorded for buildings constructed post-1999 and where available.
Height attribution for the Building Feature Type. It provides a set of five attributes detailing the heights of various parts of a building, including both absolute and relative measurements.
The primary material from which the building is constructed. Construction material is recorded for addressable buildings. It may be recorded for some non-addressable buildings, but the majority of these will have construction material recorded as NULL.
A single descriptive value intended for a quick understanding of what the feature represents.
Indicates if the roof of the building is at least partially covered with vegetation. This is usually specifically installed on a growing medium with a waterproof membrane, for environmental reasons. This does not imply that the entire roof is covered with green roof; rather, it signifies that green roof segments are present on specific sections of the roof.
The maximum number of occupiable floors at or above ground level within a residential or office building. Integer output (1–99).
A set of attributes that describes the key elements on the alignment(s) of a building roof. It represents an indication of the general shape characteristic of the roof, shown as eight directional attributes in metres squared.
The primary roof material present on the building.
A simple description of the predominant form of the roof. In the data, a flat roof is considered to have a pitch of less than 15 degrees to horizontal, and a pitched roof is greater than 15 degrees.
An indicator of whether solar panels are present on the roof of a building. This does not imply that the entire roof is covered with solar panels; rather, it signifies that solar panels are installed on specific sections of the roof.
The provenance of the Building Age, Construction Material and Basement Presence provided by third party data providers. For example, the name of an organisation and / or the specific dataset provided by that organisation or the data process used to create the data.
